Problem
The glass canopy overhanging the footpaths of the park had not been cleaned for many years, hence dried algae coating the steels and the glazing.
The design of the steel canopy meant that access to clean the glassing would prove to be difficult due to the steels being in the way.
Solution
After careful planning, the correct type of access platform was sourced and also rope access techniques were employed to set up a temporary work restraint system where access could not be gained with the machines due to permanent bollards blocking entry.
'Algae cleaning chemicals were used along with pressure washer cleaning and scrubbing.
Result
Post site visit showed excellent results now set for frequent pressure washer cleaning to maintain good standard.
